CURRICULUM VITAE

Aleksandar Ž. Rakić was born in Zrenjanin, Serbia, on Sep. 27, 1975. He received the Dipl. Ing., Magister, and Ph.D. degrees, all in electrical engineering (process control) from the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, in 2000, 2004, and 2010, respectively.

Since 2001, he has been affiliated with the University of Belgrade, School of Electrical Engineering, Serbia, where he currently holds tht position of full-time professor. His teaching activity includes undergraduate courses such as Control Systems 2 (continuous and digital linear control design), Nonlinear Systems 1 (analysis of nonlinear dynamical systems), Nonlinear Systems 2 (conventional nonlinear and fuzzy control design), Multivariable Control, Neural Networks, as well as M.Sc. courses on IoT Systems, Robust Multivariable Control and Control Systems Design. At the Ph.D. level, he introduced and teaches courses of Distributed Sensing & Control Systems and Applied Robust Optimization.

Aleksandar Rakić is the author of two university textbooks. He published 17 papers in WoS-indexed journals and over 50 other papers. He has participated in seven international scientific projects and several national research & development projects.

A member of IEEE since 2001, Aleksandar Rakić currently serves as the Vice Chair of the IEEE Serbia and Montenegro Section's Computational Intelligence Society Chapter CIS11-CH08418 (other IEEE society memberships: IAS, IES and PELS). He acts as a reviewer for several prominent peer–reviewed journals and conferences (TELFOR, ETRAN, INDEL, etc.).

The professional activity of Aleksandar Rakić is being realized through the School's business cooperation program. He has led, consulted on, or participated in various engineering projects across Southeast Europe (Bosnia, Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro), involving the fields of Advanced Metering Infrastructure for the Smart Grid, building automation, HVAC, SCADA, and embedded systems design & implementation (x86, PIC, ARM, and proprietary hardware platforms). From 2004 to 2016, he held the position of Consultant for Automation and Process Control at the enterprise of UNIT-EM, Malta, and its subsidiary UNIT Engineering, Serbia. Since 2018, he has been a consultant to Easy Aerial Inc. for drone control, system integration and cyber security.

His current research interests include control design, optimization and fault detection in distributed and networked systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, robotics, electrical drives, power electronics, as well as advanced metering and customer-side systems within the smart grid.
